The Renfrewshire Community Gospel Choir is the first choir of its kind in Renfrewshire. It is open to all with no auditions. If anyone enjoys singing, then they are welcome to come along , whether it’s for fun or to meet new friends or to improve their vocal skills or learn how to sing harmonies.
The idea came from Diane and her previous involvement with school choirs and also singing in choirs herself. After the launch of her music school last year, she decided to approach the Association of African Communities in Paisley. As a result, a partnership was formed. Renfrewshire Council are fully supportive of the initiative and Diane was delighted when funding for start-up costs was awarded. Both Diane and Samuel of the African Communities are enthusiastic in their desire to support the Paisley 2021 Bid for City of Culture. They hope that the choir will play a big part in the community in the lead up to this.
The aim of the choir is to bring communities together, working together for the good of the Renfrewshire Community.
The main choir meets every Tuesday at 7pm till 9pm in the Methodist Central Halls, 2 Gauze St, Paisley PA1 1EP. A more informal group also meets at the Diane Mitchell Music School, Brick Lane Studios, 7-9 Weir Street, Paisley PA3 4DW on a Friday at 7pm till 9pm. Come along and find out more. New members are always welcome, so pop along or call me on 07896689816 to register or find out more. We already have two gigs in the pipeline and are aiming for a big concert in Wallneuk Parish Church on Saturday August 27th.
The choir is costs £3 per night on a pay as you go basis.
We are always looking for funding and sponsorship, so if you can help in any way, please get in touch.
